These Terms cover the website at designcanvas.app and its separately operated hosted services. Design Canvas is a product of Speech Bubble Marketing Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”). By using these hosted services you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
1. The service
Design Canvas is a Mac desktop application that renders routes from a running local dev server on an infinite canvas. The native app is free and open source, for macOS 14 and later. The website provides downloads, update information and hosted sharing. The hosted service is operated separately and is not included in the public source repository.
2. Licence
The native app source is available under the MIT licence in the public repository. You may use, modify and redistribute that code, including commercially, subject to the licence and any third-party notices. These hosted-service Terms do not restrict the rights granted by that licence. The existing Mac download may differ from the latest source; consult its included notices and the repository for version details.
3. Availability and support
Design Canvas is provided “as is”. Features may change or disappear. It might crash. Please back up anything you can’t afford to lose. We make no warranties, express or implied, about the software’s fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or availability. This is a personal project: support, response times and future updates are not guaranteed. The MIT licence contains the warranty and liability terms for the open-source code.
4. Acceptable use
When using the hosted service, you agree not to:
- Use it to break the law or to infringe anyone else’s rights.
- Abuse the service, interfere with other users or access shares without permission.
5. Your content
Design Canvas runs locally on your Mac and connects to your own dev server. Rendering locally does not upload your project source to us. If you use hosted sharing, screenshots and canvas metadata are uploaded to our service and can be viewed by people with the share link. You retain rights to your content and are responsible for having permission to share it. See the Privacy Policy for analytics and service data.
6. Termination
You can stop using Design Canvas at any time by uninstalling it. We can suspend or terminate access to the hosted service if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the service. We’ll try to give fair notice when practical. This does not revoke rights already granted under the MIT licence.
7. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim connected to the hosted service is capped at the fees you paid us for that service in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can’t be limited under UK law.
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. It forms part of these Terms.
9. Changes
We may update these hosted-service Terms. If a change is material, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and may flag the change on the home page. Continuing to use the hosted service after the change means you accept the updated Terms. Changes do not replace the MIT licence for previously released source.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
